Our Approach to Complete Beginners
In short
Complete beginners are who we love working with most. No experience needed, we teach the basics from scratch, keep every session judgement-free, and progress slowly enough that you build confidence, not injuries. If you have never lifted a weight in your life, you are exactly who this is for.
The gym is intimidating when you have never trained. Everyone else seems to know what they are doing, the machines look like riddles, and it is easy to assume you should already be fitter before you even start. That last belief keeps thousands of people on the sidelines for years. We exist to get you off them.
Beginners are not a problem to us, they are our favourite people to coach, because the progress is so fast and so rewarding. You do not need to get in shape before you come. You do not need to know a single exercise. You just need to turn up, and we teach you everything else one step at a time.
What makes us good with beginners
- We teach every movement from the very basics
- Zero judgement about your fitness, weight or past
- Slow, sensible progression so nothing overwhelms you
- Plain-English coaching with no confusing jargon
The beginner mistakes we help you avoid
Left alone, new trainees tend to copy advanced routines from social media, lift too heavy too soon, skip warm-ups, and quit when soreness hits. Each of those leads to injury or burnout. With coaching, none of them happen, we start light, build technique first, and progress only when you are ready.
The other big beginner trap is comparison. You are not competing with the person next to you or with anyone online. We keep your eyes on your own progress, which is the only thing that matters.
Your first few weeks as a beginner
- Learn to move well before we add meaningful weight
- Build a small, repeatable routine you can actually keep
- Celebrate early wins, your first proper squat, first push-up
- Grow strength and confidence together, week by week
Beginners with health concerns
Many beginners come with a bit of baggage, old injuries, high blood pressure, being very deconditioned. That is fine and common. If anything needs medical clearance first, we will tell you and refer you to a doctor. Once you are cleared, we start gently and build you up safely from wherever you are.
