Mobility and flexibility get used as if they mean the same thing, but the difference is worth understanding. Flexibility is how far a muscle can be stretched, think of someone pulling your leg up while you relax. Mobility is how well you can actively move a joint through its range under your own control, which is what you use when you actually move and lift.

This matters because you can be flexible but lack mobility, able to stretch far passively but unable to control that range actively. For training and everyday movement, mobility is usually the more useful quality.
