Training Around Your Menstrual Cycle

In short

Training around your cycle means adjusting effort and expectations to how you feel across the month rather than forcing the same session every week. We coach flexibly and privately, so training fits your energy. This is general fitness coaching; for painful or irregular cycles, please see your doctor.

Most training plans pretend every week is identical, but many women know their energy, strength and mood shift across the month. Some phases you feel powerful and want to push; others you feel flat, sore or low and a hard session feels impossible. Fighting that with the same rigid plan every week is a recipe for frustration and dropping off.

We coach flexibly instead, adjusting effort to how you actually feel rather than forcing a fixed routine. This is not medical treatment, it is simply sensible coaching that respects your body. If your periods are very painful, very heavy or irregular, that is a matter for your doctor, and we would encourage you to get it checked rather than just training through it.

Adjusting effort, not abandoning training

The goal is never to stop when you feel low, but to scale sensibly. On tougher days we keep you moving with lighter, shorter sessions; on stronger days we make the most of your energy. Over a month that flexibility keeps you consistent, which beats a rigid plan you abandon halfway.

A simple way to work with the month

You do not need to overthink it or track everything obsessively. A rough sense of your pattern is enough for us to plan around.

  • Push harder in the weeks you naturally feel strong
  • Keep sessions lighter and shorter when energy dips
  • Never skip entirely, gentle movement often helps
  • Adjust in real time based on how you turn up that day

Training on low or crampy days

On days with cramps or low energy, we do not push through pain. We often switch to gentle movement, which for many women eases discomfort and lifts mood, or we simply keep it short and easy. You are always in charge of how far we go on any given day.

When to see your doctor

We coach fitness, not menstrual health. If your cycle is very painful, unusually heavy, irregular or has changed noticeably, please see your doctor, that is outside what training addresses. We are happy to keep coaching gently alongside whatever they advise, privately across KL and Selangor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I stop training during my period?+

Usually no. Many women find gentle movement eases cramps and lifts mood. We scale intensity to how you feel rather than stopping entirely, and you decide how far to go each day.

Is it true I am stronger at certain times of the month?+

Many women do feel stronger in some phases and flatter in others, though it varies a lot. We plan flexibly around your own pattern rather than assuming a fixed rule that may not fit you.

My periods are very painful, can training fix that?+

We do not treat menstrual problems. Gentle movement may ease mild discomfort for some, but very painful, heavy or irregular periods should be checked by your doctor. We coach alongside their advice, not instead of it.

Do I need to track my cycle for this?+

Not obsessively. A rough sense of when you feel strong or flat is enough for us to adjust sessions. We keep it simple and practical rather than turning it into another chore.
